Kinda frustrated....just a bit.
I recently posted a bulletin on myspace that advertised a deal. I want to start a cake business on the side, but dont' have the money to practice. So....for people's kids birthday's & such....if they supply the stuff, I'll do the cakes. Sounds great, right? Well....a few people wanted to know if I knew how to use fondant. Which I don't. And I was hope hope hopeing that I would be able to get some to play with, but it's just never been able to happen.
As a result, I've lost two possible cake orders. And it's just kinda bummin me out. I really want to help out financially, and can't figure out how to do it. I don't want to commit to a magazine about writing, because then I'll hit writer's block. Ugh.
Anyways.
It's just kinda bummin me out.
I feel like anytime I get excited about something...be it crafting, or gardening, or cake making, or going to the gym....LIFE gets in the way and robs me of my joy.
I'll get over it.

If this cake business is something you want to do- really want to do- find someone who knows the ins and outs of it and start asking questions. Otherwise, there are tons of resources on the internet. Like this one: http://www.baking911.com/decorating/cakes_fondant.htm#Sculpting%20Fondant

So sorry to hear that Jessica. They do sell fondant at Walmart. I bought a box last year to make some flowers for my daughters cake. I think it was about $5. That being said, I don't like it. I don't like the taste or how it is. Perhaps tell them you prefer to work with a buttercream frosting and see what they say? Someone must still like it. :) I know I do! :)
